ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

Dear Viewers PSG COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY Conducting Workshop. This two day intense Network Forensics– A Traffic Analysis Perspective workshop prepares participants to face the challenge of identifying malicious network activity.

This hands-on workshop begins with a brief introduction to the TCP/IP protocol suite and quickly moves on to analyzing packets using two of the most widely used network forensics tools – tcpdump and Wireshark. The second day covers the intrusion kill chain and its relation to network forensic investigations.

This includes analysis of critical application layer protocols, working with flow data and understanding the network behaviour of malware. There will be multiple hands-on labs throughout the workshop to reinforce the technical

CONCEPTS.

Learning Outcome
  •  Understand the internet protocol stack and its relevance to today’s attacks.
  •  Usage of open-source tools for effective traffic analysis
  •  Leverage flow data to narrow down your investigations
  •  Investigating various techniques for malware identification and communication.
Workshop Highlights
  •  Network Forensics – Technical Fundamentals
  •  Introduction to Sniffers and examining packets with tcpdump
  •  Wireshark - Navigating, Searching and Filtering packets
  •  Wireshark - Useful features for Network Forensic analysis
  •  The Intrusion kill chain  Higher layer protocol analysis-DNS, HTTP, SMTP and DHCP
  •  Network Flow analysis  Understanding network tunnels and malware behaviour
  •  Multiple Hands on Lab
