PROGRAMME OBJECTIVE:

The main objective of this faculty development program is to promote the basics and applications of finite element methods to solve different types of real time engineering problems.

 PROGRAMME CONTENTS
The following topics will be covered
  • Overview of FEA and its applications, shape functions and Essential vs. Natural boundary conditions. Methods of approximation, Evaluation of stiffness matrix for one dimension Axial bar, Beam and Frame elements.
  • Finite Element approximation functions (linear, quadratic and cubic elements).
  • Plain stress, plain strain, axisymmetric elements, Materials : Isotropy, Orthotropic, Anisotropy. Inplane elements: CST, LST, Quad4, Isoparametric elements.
  • Higher order elements, super elements, Natural coordinates, Numerical integration, Gaussian
  • quadrants.
  • Modal analysis : Lumped, consistent mass, Eigen values and Eigen vectors, Harmonic analysis,
  • Transient dynamic analysis problems.
  • Thermal: Steady state and transient conduction and convection models.
  • Hands on Training on ANSYS® / ABAQUS® for typical problems.

REGISTRATION ORGANIZING COMMITTEE
  • There is no Registration Fee.
  • Preference will be given to Assistant Professors / Associate Professors who are working in colleges affiliated to Anna University.
  • Selection will be made on first come first serve basis and is limited to twenty-five candidates.
  • Selected candidates will be intimated through e-mail only.
  • If selected, faculty members should attend the training program without fail.
  • Tea and Working Lunch will be provided.
  • No TA/DA will be provided.
  • Accommodation may be provided for outstation candidates in college hostels, subject to availability.
  • Certificates will be issued to candidates who attend the program in full by CFD, Anna University, Chennai.
  • Faculty members who wish to attend should submit the filled-in registration form forwarded by the Head of the Institution to the address by post on or before 03 December 2016.
